Inequality and the Promise of Philanthropy
Recently, there has been a growing interest in—and dialogue around—society’s role in addressing issues relating to inequality. In May 2013, Weingart Foundation’s President & CEO, Fred Ali delivered a presentation on this important topic, which explores what role philanthropy can play in addressing a variety of pressing issues relating to inequality.

Small Grant Program Launches New Application Process
Weingart Foundation is pleased to announce that we are now accepting Small Grant Program (SGP) applications on an ongoing basis throughout the year, rather than on a submission deadline schedule. We believe that offering organizations the ability to apply to the SGP throughout the year, without deadlines, will provide nonprofits with increased flexibility as well as a faster response time.
The primary purpose and priorities of the SGP -- to increase access to funding and to support the capacity of small, community-based, and developing organizations serving low-income communities.

Special Areas of Interest
Within our general grant focus and guidelines, the Foundation is interested in receiving letters of inquiry that present effective, high impact, strategies to address the needs of low-income and underserved populations in the following areas:
- Targeted employment training and services for identified mid-skill level jobs;
- Drop-out prevention;
- College and career education access; as well as
- Capacity-building strategies for clinics disproportionately impacted by the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
If your organization works in any of these areas and you are interested in submitting a request to the Foundation, please contact Angela Carr at firstname.lastname@example.org.
